Uneventful Day

Today consisted of driving on down Interstate 10 to Las Cruses, doing a shopping, then driving on through El Paso, Texas to the Roadrunner RV Park. (and managing to miss hitting anything in all the traffic through these places!) The dust haze from yesterday was just as bad today, and the scenery consisted of very faint outlines of hills and mountains through the almost opaque atmosphere. I did check Miss Travelaire's air filter this morning though, and didn't see any evidence of sand or dust in it.

We shopped in an Alfredson's grocery store in Las Cruses, which we were not impressed with, and then had to go to a nearby Walmart to pick up two or three things which the other store didn't have. It's amazing how much time you waste shopping! By the time we got out of there it was well into the afternoon.

We needed a place to camp where we could do a laundry and have showers. The shower thing was supposed to be last night, but when we arrived at the Rockhound State Park yesterday, we were informed that they had to fix the showers because there was no hot water. We could have showered in the motorhome, but it's so cramped and also it is full of stuff we store in there, so we decided to pass on that.

Now I knew from searching on the internet that El Paso was a real dump as far as RV parks were concerned. And once you clear El Paso, there is nothing but nothing in western Texas. So we just bit the bullet and chose this Roadrunner RV Park (N31 44 50.2, W108 20 24.9). El Paso is obviously not too nice a place, because the park has a stone wall all around it and a guard at the gate at night. Well the showers weren't too bad. Two of the four were out of order, but there was both hot and cold water, which is more than can be said of some showers we've come across! And Doreen was quite pleased with the laundry. So, apart from being squeezed between two big somewhat dilapidated RVs, things have worked out ok, and the place has served its purpose (at a price!)

Pretty dull day! Not even anything to take a picture of, unless you like dust!

Oh! I just thought of something. Here's a selfie that I took to show you the new fandangled things that I bought the other day to hold on to my reading glasses. I can't see anything up close anymore (can't understand why), and I can never find my glasses. So now, they are always just below my chin. Pretty neat!
