Strange Unidentified Liquid

When we came out of our motorhome this morning, there was this strange unidentified liquid lying on the ground. We hadn't seen anything like this before on this trip, at least after we got through the Northwestern States. And as you can see, there are trees (very strange), and Tanner has his green toilet back! It has got warmer today, in the 70s F, and the wind has died down.

 

Notice the picnic table and shelter. This is all made of really heavy metal - the Army Corps of Engineers know how to put together a sturdy campsite! They have pretty spiffy culverts too!

 

We drove further east today on mostly two lane roads, some with no traffic, and others with cars and trucks trying to go the speed limit of 70mph (or 113kmph) on roads that back home would have speed limits of 40 or 50mph (60 or 80kmph.) And it was drizzling for part of the way, which doesn't help matters. After the depressed landscape of western Texas, the area we drove through today was downright ritzy in places. Limestone is plentiful here, and there were beautiful limstone homes lining the roads.

We camped again at another Army Corps of Engineers park, called Rocky Creek Park (N30 17 52.5, W96 34 05.6) on Somerville Lake. I am amazed at all these lakes that these people have built all over the USA. I'm sure they would have a hard time damming up a river to make a huge lake like this nowadays with all the environmental activists of today. There are several separate camping areas in the park, and we have our area all to ourselves - so I was able to sit out and play my banjo full force tonight, and no one left!

The grass just behind our campsite is filled with some kind of lupins.

But these have very small much shorter flowers than the lupins the highways department grows along the roads back home in BC.

On our walk this afternoon, we came across this burl. Someone who makes fancy wooden bowls would like this!

 

And the campground is full of dear.
