Well, we are one day into Texas. The Lord willing, we will spend many more days in Texas too - Texas is Biiiiiiiiiiiiig! As we left El Paso, and got on to Interstate 10 again, it was obvious that the thick dust of the last couple of days had cleared up, and we could enjoy the scenery again.
The GPS said we had quite a long haul for us today to get to the next place to camp. But then as we were traveling along I realized we had another time change, so we had one less hour to travel that the GPS indicated. This is the second time change in a couple of days - that's because Arizona doesn't go on daylight savings, so we had the last time change coming into New Mexico, and we didn't have far to travel in the southern part of New Mexico.
We camped at Balmorhea State Park. It is famous for a natural spring that supplies water year around at between 72 and 76 degrees F. They have made a large pool area where you can swim. I couldn't get Doreen in as usual, but she was there again to take the picture! There were all sorts of big minnows swimming around, and they seemed to like me because everywhere I swam, they followed me.
There were all sorts of people with wet suits on - 76 degrees is pretty cold for Texans! Also there were all sorts of divers with tanks. The pool is 25 feet deep in places, and the water is really clear. A fellow we talked to said it is really interesting with all sorts of fish. There is one species here that is found nowhere else apparently.
There is a canal coming out of the pool, and traveling through the campsite. The water is crystal clear.
And here is our campsite, with it's own sun shade. No AT&T service here, so the blog has to wait 'till torrow. We are thinking of heading to Big Bend National Park tomorrow, and there may not be internet service there either.
