It was not a long drive around and down to Everglades National Park. It seemed about as far from the park entrance to the Flamingo Campground (N25 08 20.7, W80 56 24.7) as it was to get to the park entrance. It's a big park. We didn't try to do any exploring around today, and what we saw so far looks nothing like you see in pictures of the Everglades. This picture shows about what it's like here at the campground, looking out towards the ocean shore.
On the way into the campground today, we went through a storm where it rained so hard we wouldn't have been able to see the road except for there being a car in front of us which we could see! But that was short lived, just a few minutes, and then the sun came out for the rest of the day. The temperatures were in the high 80s again, but there was a nice breeze and we sat out under a tree at our campsite for shade. Again, we expected the bugs to be bad here, but there was little sign of them this afternoon with the breeze. And notice in this not so good ipad photo, the electric plug in post, so we can run that air conditioner thing sitting behind the tree on top of the RV.
And I have to include a couple of bird pictures. This guy looks just like a Turkey Vulture, but it is a Black Vulture, which is common around here, and it has the reputation apparently of picking and ruining rubber parts on vehicles that are left unattended.
And here is a hawk sitting waiting for something smaller than me to walk by.
