Entering The Sunshine State

They bill it as "The Sushine State", but in actual fact, it is supposed to rain most of next week. We stopped at this rest area/welcome center, and were served a free cup of orange and grapefruit juice. It was good! But in our travels today, we saw no citrus fruit, only pine trees.

Before we left our campsite this morning, Tanner tried out the Doggy walk, complete with its own fire hydrant!

We were quickly back on Interstate 95 and traveling south and across the border into Florida. I-95 is a smooth road with lots of traffic, but with three lanes each way, the traffic flowed pretty well. We were only passed by a few hundred trucks, a large percentage of which were hauling containers like on that ship we saw on the Savannah River. Before we got to Jacksonville, which would have been a nightmare, we turned off and went around west and over to a Forrest Service campground called "Ocean Pond" (N30 14 27.0, W82 25 41.9). Being Friday, the start of the weekend, I was a bit worried it might be full, but we got in about 2:30 in the afternoon and there were a handful of spaces left.

It is quite warm and humid here, with various varieties of bugs that we fought off by lighting a very smoky fire. That seemed to work pretty well until the sun went down, at which time we had to give up and go inside.
