We left one Army Corps of Engineers park in Alabama, this morning and drove east to another Army Corps of Engineers park just over the border into Georgia this afternoon. This park, called Whitetail Ridge Campground (N33 01 12.9, W85 10 41.1) is on West Point Lake, just on the border.
It's just like Quatsino around here! (Sorry about the blurred image; it was getting pretty dark out)
We drove through some pretty run down neighborhoods today, I'll tell you. Selby Alabama was a disaster. It looked like a hurricane had hit, and half the homes were boarded up. Yet, out in the country side, there were some really nice places, and the churches all looked neat and tidy. It's amazing how many big churches there are in the south compared to at home. There seems to be a big Baptist church on every corner; you wonder how people decide on which one to go to.
No mosquitoes tonight, it's plenty warm, and there was a pile of wood at our campsite. So we've had a fire going ever since we arrived, and it's really pleasant sitting out here tonight under the stars.
