Didn't We See You In Florida?

We took our time, and left Nina and Jim's place on the Chesapeake Bay heading north. But we got side tracked in a small town along the way because we saw a car/truck wash, and Miss Travelaire badly needed a bath. Now anyone who has ever used one of these places must know that they are built to extract as much money as possible from you. You put lots of quarters in the slot and it starts going, dispensing soapy water, which is supposed to get the dirt off but doesn't. That runs out. So you use the brush, plus in my case I used a wash mit I had tucked away in a compartment. And you scrub all the dirt off as best you can. Then you put lots more quaters in the slot, and use the rinse cycle. But by this time most of the soap on the motorhome has dried, so the rinse water doesn't come close to getting the soap/dirt streaks off. The water stops. You put lots more quarters in, and repeat this process several times before you finally get the soap/dirt streaks off. By this time you've also removed any wax that was ever on the vehicle! Anyway this took lots of money and lots of time, but Miss Travelaire is proud of her new look.

We continued to travel north, exiting Virginia into Maryland, and then exiting Maryland into Delaware, going over a couple of toll bridges, and finally into Newark after a couple more stops along the way. The traffic was getting pretty bad for the last few miles, as it was getting to be late afternoon by this time, but we finally pulled up into Doreen's sister Nina's place. There's Doreen and Nina, with Nina's daughter Roberta, and her dog Cleo, and of course you recognize Tanner.

I almost saw the worst traffic accident. Almost, because it was avoided. Miss Travelaire was following a car, and we were coming up to a red light. I slowed down, but the car ahead of me didn't; he obviously didn't see the red light, or was daydreaming or something. Just then a truck came through the intersection, and at the last minute the driver of the car finally realized his error, and turned sharply. He must have been pretty close to rolling over, because he was going pretty fast and turned very sharply. Well he missed the back end of the truck, and because there was no other vehicle following the truck, he managed to escape unharmed. All this seemed to happen for me in slow motion; I'm thinking this is going to be terrible!

Cleo thought that big ball of fir was interesting!

After some time gabbing, Jim and Nina took us out to a restaurant that serves the best spare ribs you can imagine! What a treat! And it was back to the house for a bit more gabbing before we retired to the motorhome, where I am writing up this blog post.
