Our First Destination

We went for a short walk before taking off from our campsite this morning. This picture that I took on our walk shows an odd thing about this artificial lake. There are trees growing out in the middle of the lake. Now if you look at the shore, the level of the lake doesn't look particularly high. In fact, it looks somewhat on the low side, and you would think that the dam that formed the lake would not allow the water to get higher than normal. These Army Corps of Engineers do strange things!

It was a fairly short drive to Jerry and Emily's (Doreen's brother and sister-in-law) place south of Atlanta, Georgia. They live on an acreage out in the country, a really nice property, and we could park Miss Travelaire near their garage and plug in an electrical cord for power. The picture shows Doreen with Jerry, Emily and Lorie their daughter on a new porch that they are in the process of having built.

It was supposed to rain and thunderstorm today, but only a few sprinkles occured on the way over, and the rest of the day was warm and sunny. Lorie was saying that this storm, which is supposed to pass through here sometime this weekend, has been following us all across the country. We have been having pretty good weather, but there has been rain all through Texas and other states that we have traveled through, coming along right behind us all the way.

I changed the oil in the motorhome in the afternoon, while some others had a nap. I've done this here before on other trips - Jerry & Emily's place is just an oil change distance away from Victoria! Later, we had a good time with the family talking about old times, and a fabulous meal that Jerry cooked up.

  1. Hi: We enjoyed our Face Time with you. You looked so happy. ( Robert needed a shave !! ) The weather has been good here. We caught 4 rainbows in Fuller a couple of days ago and they have all been consumed. Good luck on the rest of your trip.
