We pulled out of Walmart by about 9:30 am, to make sure we got to church on time for a 10:30 am service. And we were there about 3/4 hour early, but we have our house along with us, so we could just wait in the parking lot. We attended the Redemption Orthodox Presbyterian Church service, which was being held in the Gainesville Seventh Day Adventist Church. As you can see in the picture, it is a big modern church building. This service included singing of 3 pslams and 1 hymn, which I thought was an improvement over 1 psalm and 3 hymns, although they were all just about drowned out by the piano player!
After the service, and after a sandwich which Doreen made while still parked in the church parking lot, we set off south for about an hours drive to a Forrest Service campground called Fore Lake (N29 16 14.1, W81 55 07.3), in Ocala National Forrest. As you can see in the picture of our campsite, the vegetation is beginning to show signs that we are no longer near Victoria, especially the ground cover that no longer looks like ferns.
These little creatures are a lot more numerous here than on Vancouver Island. They are hard to see at first, however as they are well camouflaged.
And some of the birds have taken on a distinct redish tinge.
There was the remains of a campfire from the previous occupants of our campsite, so we kept it going, and sat out for awhile. The temperature in the shade was 91 F, so we didn't feel too much like hiking anywhere, although we did wander down to the lake where all the locals were bathing and sunbathing. I haven't really been to a beach in awhile. It is amazing to me that almost everyone on the beach (mostly young people) had tattoos of some sort.
