Rainy Day

Yesterday evening had Victoria weather. Today had Quatsino weather! It rained during the night and all morning long. It didn't just rain, it poured! And there was the odd lightning strike. The ground was saturated with puddles of water everywhere. On the weather report, it showed a band of rain from the Gulf of Mexico right up through Georgia and states north of here. It was a fairly narrow band, and it moved through our area mid morning. But it looked like it should clear up quickly at about noon. This was the storm that had followed us on our trip across the southern states, and it finally caught up with us and passed us. So we stayed and talked with Jerry most of the morning, and got ready and left shortly after noon. It still showered on our way southeast on Interstate 75 and 16, so we decided to stop at a Walmart in Macon, which is an hour or so drive. We decided there was no use catching up to the storm by going any further, and there was no use finding a real campground just to sit and watch the rain.

 

On our way down Interstate 75, our GPS showed that there was a slow down ahead, and sure enough we caught up to it, so we pulled off at an exit that was right there, and Doreen made a sandwich for lunch. I looked up on the internet, and it indicated there was an accident up ahead. But it was being cleared up, and after lunch we had no problem.

So, here we are parked at Walmart. We only spent about $20 in the store, so it wasn't too expensive a campground. When we stop at a Walmart, we make sure it is a Super Walmart, open 24 hours. They normally have a security vehicle like this one, which patrols the parking lot with it's orange light flashing on top. So we feel pretty secure, even in a big city. I don't think too much funny stuff goes on with this guy constantly wandering around all night.

 

The rain stopped pretty much when we arrived here, and I don't think we should catch up to it after tonight.
