No We're Not Camping At Walmart Tonight!

It was MacDonalds for an Egg McMuffin breakfast this morning, as they had a special on them at their restaurant just across the parking lot from Walmart. So that was our quota of salt for the week. We are definitely out of the Northwest now, because it's not raining this morning. We got away at about 8:30 AM, and traveled down through Sacramento with surprisingly light traffic. Traveling through there and through Stockton at around 10 AM is probably at the best time of the day for traffic. We were back on Interstate 5 in Sacramento, after our little jaunt over to Yuba City yesterday, and we stayed on there for the rest of the driving day. The truck traffic picked up in the afternoon though. It's amazing the number of trucks traveling this one north/south corridor up the west coast.

The sun was out all day today, although it was quite hazy. And the temperature was such that I had to put on my shorts and short sleeves! Now that we are down in the warm sunshine, we will be able to get off Interstate 5 and slow down! We have been on Interstate 5 all the way from the Canadian border. It is a smooth interstate, and the traffic has flowed along pretty well.

After Eric's comment on Facebook today, he'll be glad to know we are camping in a real campground tonight. We are at Buena Vista Recreation Area (N35 13 47.0, W119 15 46.3), which is a public campground situated on an artificial lake just two or three miles off Interstate 5. It's a big campground but there are only a handful of campers here. It seems to be run by some agency that is not the State of California, because the price is quite reasonable, and we have full hookups: electricity, water, and sewer.

As Doreen and I sat out enjoying the scene over the lake, the sun went down in the evening into the haze (probably the Los Angeles smog), creating a beautiful red sky. The scene reminded us of Doreen's sister Nina & Jim's place down on Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.

After this picture was taken, Doreen went down to the shower building and tried unsuccessfully to take a shower. The water pressure was so high, the water went all over the place, including Doreen, much to her disgust. I went down later, having been warned, and had a shower making sure all my clothes were well away from the shower stall, and managed to do all right. Doreen is going to use Miss Travelaire's tiny shower in the morning, since we will have hot water and sewer connection.
