Camping By The Colorado River

We didn't find a church we wanted to go to, and we just stayed put and listened to a sermon I had downloaded from sermonaudio. We didn't like the campsite we were in, so near mid day, we pulled camp and drove a little less than an hour north through the town of Parker, AZ, across the Colorado River back into California, and up Parker Dam Road to a BLM campground about seven or eight miles north of Parker. It was jam packed full because unbeknownst to us, it turns out to be President's Day weekend in the US (any excuse for a holiday!) We could have stayed there by just parking in a parking lot, but we decided to go to another campground about a mile or two north. This was also supposedly a BLM campground, but the government had leased it over to a private resort, called Sundance RV Resort (N34 13 22.5, W114 12 09.7). Since it was still associated with the Bureau of Land Management, though, we got our camping at half price with Doreen's seniors pass.

We like the Colorado River area; it's usually pretty with the river and lots of palm trees. But it tends to be lined up along the shores with expensive motorhomes. And that was the case at this campground, as you see in this photo. The river is just on the other side of this line of RVs.

Here is the other side of the RVs, facing out on the river. This water flowing past here supplies a large fraction of the water for Southern California. It was a bit noisy because of a lot of very loud motorboats and jet skies, but that died down in the evening.

Of course we are camped up in the cheap seats away from the river; unlike the upper class along the river, we have no water, no electricity, no serwer, nada. We are parked right next to a building with the WiFi antenna, but we are not privileged to login to it! The AT&T signal is so weak here, that I don't think I can publish this blog posting tonight.

I didn't get my blog posted last night, so I climbed up the hill beyond the road this morning and took this picture of the campground, with Miss T over towards the right hand side.
