Miss Travelaire Says “What’s the Hurray!”

 Well, it definitely is warmer here than at home!  It was about 50F (that’s about 10C) when we got up this morning.  And as we traveled down I-5 to Bakersfield, it felt quite comfortable, although not short-sleeve weather.  The trip down I-5 was hair raising as it was bumper to bumper going along at 100 km/hr in the slow lane!  Miss Travelaire wonders why everyone has to run along so fast.  What’s the hurry? We were going to try to find an RV park here, but they all mostly seemed to be catering to seasonal RVs.

So, we headed on up to Lake Isabella, where we had been a few times before.  The trip up here from Bakersfield is through the Kern River Canyon.  It is quite exciting as you wonder the whole way along whether Miss Travelaire’s mirrors are going to scrape on the rocks beside the road.  The picture doesn’t convey the narrowness of the roadway.

I was wondering whether there would be campsites available, as it was Friday night, the start of a weekend.  But the place I had picked out was completely empty, not an RV in sight.  So, we wondered if it was really open.  We turned around and went back to a campground where we had stayed a couple of times on previous trips, but it was closed!  So, we ended up after numerous tries finding a $12 “campground” on the shores of Lake Isabella that was sort of a gravel area overlooking the lake (N35 38 46.0, W118 27 39.4).

It was a great open area for Harley to run around chasing his ball, and he had a great time, but ended up completely bushed.

There are still leftover clouds from the rainstorm of the last couple of days.

It’s Valentine’s day, and we had a little party. 😂
