Balmy Weather!

 

Time to pack up and leave Boulder Beach Campground.  Just took this picture of the neighbours place next to us.  They have a generator as big as the one at home that powers our whole two houses!  It was fairly quiet, though, so it didn’t bother us.

We stopped by Hemenway Park on our way out, at Dave Bacharach’s suggestion.  Here, you can see a herd of longhorn sheep like on this display, perhaps.

Not this morning, just a grassy field, although it was a nice view out over Lake Mead.  But, if you click in the sidebar for 2015, February, and click on “A Hike to the Palm Canyon Oasis,” you will see a picture of the Longhorns that we saw on our hike.  As we were pulling out fro Hemenway Park, however, we did see one lone sheep off in the distance.

It was on through Boulder City and down US 95 all the way to Laughlin, across the Colorado River, and into Davis Camp Park, one of our favorite spots and one of our most visited spots.  We camp in the dry camping area right along the river.  We are in Arizona, but the other side of the river is Nevada.  Ususally it is very quiet here, but with the odd tour boat and the odd jet ski going by.  Today there were none of those.  The weather is a nice 75F (that’s about 24C), time for short shorts.  Mr. Cube, Harley and I went for a short bike ride while Doreen was having an afternoon snooze.  I came back to pick up Harley’s leash which I’d forgotten, and before we could take off again the rear tire on Mr. Cube went flat.  I spent a good part of the rest of the afternoon fixing that.  There was a piece of wire stuck through the tire!  There is another nice bike path here that goes for miles up along the river.  If I could convince Doreen to stay, maybe we could try again.

In the evening, just after sunset, the cormorants come to roost on the cable that strings across the river.  It is quite interesting and amusing watching all this transpire over the course of an hour or so.  They are here for the night and will depart in the morning. You can see the casino in Laughlin, Nevada, in the lower left.
