Woke up to a sunny day. I thought from the weather forecasts that we should be getting some rain. Doreen was sick last night, I think from over eating at the ferry buffet yesterday. She's not wanting to get up this morning.
After coffee sitting with Eric & Sarah, Eric finally installed the new part in his truck.
We left at about 11:30, after a leisurely morning, and traveled the rest of the way up highway 99 to 97, the Cariboo Highway. Along the way we came to a hydro installation near Lillooet. We stopped to get gas in Lillooet, and by the station there was a display of a turbine from a hydro dam. It was a massive chunk of metal for sure! And wow, I managed to get a picture where none of the kids were making funny faces!
After a few hours of driving north along 97, we all were ready to make it a day, but there were no BC parks around, so we ended up stopping at a private campground on McLeese Lake, (N52 25 11.4, W122 17 50.2). It didn't seem to have a name, but it is a lovely spot, and the kids could go in for a swim. It clouded over with big storm type clouds, although there was no rain. But there was a lot of thunder and some limited amount of lightning. Here's a lineup of people from Victoria watching for lightning because they rarely get to see it.
In the evening we started doing a jigsaw puzzle which Sarah assured us she could roll up in a felt cloth to keep for another day - a crazy thing to do on a camping trip! It got too dark for that, so we lit a campfire and played a round of Chinese checkers - another crazy thing for a camping trip!
