We didn't leave our campground too early, because we didn't want to deal with any rush hour traffic. But when we got away at about 9:30 am, our GPS was still indicating congestion on Highway 401. When it shows a red road, from experience I've found that it means the traffic is basically stopped, and a yellow road means it is moving but slowly. Even at 9:30, it was showing several places in red and others in yellow, and very little in green. So we ended up going to a Walmart to pick up a few groceries, and by the time we got out of there, the GPS was indicating that things were somewhat better. And they were; we had a few slower spots, but we got across the top of Toronto fairly easily.
We were heading for Brampton to visit my brother William, who we arranged to meet at his appartment at 11 am. And after parkng the motorhome, we set out in his car to a shopping mall nearby, where we had lunch and chatted for an hour or two. I haven't seen William since 1995, and Doreen hasn't seen him for a few years before that. He's looking a lot older (I guess we all are!)
After returning from lunch, we said goodbye, and traveled up Highway 10 to the village of Caledon, to Paul and Amanda's place (my oldest brother David's youngest son). Paul was there, because he works on computer stuff at home two or three days a week. The other couple of days he makes a two hour trip each way by car and train into downtown Toronto!
Paul had a pot of Chili cooking on the stove for everyone after they got home (mostly long distances from work and school). Their three children shown here with their parents are very nice kids. An interesting thing is that that plant (the green one) in the foreground is a descendant of a plant that Doreen and I had when we lived in Connecticut. Paul's parents brought a shoot back after visiting us down there back in the early 70s. And notice the very bright star shining through the window - it must be a supernova!

My comments don't seem to be showing up. Sorry if this comment appears 3 times!
ReplyDeleteI have a descendant of that same shamrock plant out here in BC! (Donna - your oldest brother's youngest daughter)
Somehow, our original plant, which we brought up to Victoria with us when we moved, disappeared in some subsequent move. So Paul gave us a shoot from his plant so we can resurrect it.
