A Visit With My Sister Marjorie

My niece Jenny picked us up at 10:15 this morning, to go to church, a nice sunny day but cool compared to that country to the south! She had already picked up her mother, my sister Marjorie, and we all traveled down the 401 (how else do you get anywhere in Toronto?) to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, which is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland. It was different to hear a Scottish accent from the preacher, after listening to an Irish accent for so long. The church is nothing like it was the last time I was there. It is now sitting isolated in amongst a slew of condominiums, of which there are many more than in any other city we've seen. For those of you who listen to Charles Price, this church is just down the road a very short way from the People's Church.

Here's Jenny, Marjorie, and Doreen in the church parking lot prior to the service.

After church Jenny drove us back (along 401 of course) to Miss Travelaire who was waiting patiently, and we all had lunch that Jenny had brought (she is so thoughtful!) in the motorhome.

Then we drove over to the family house, which is only a short distance from our campsite. The house is sitting empty now, because Marjorie has recently had to go into a nursing home. Judy, Jenny's younger sister, and her three kids came over, and Susan, my brother Peter's daughter came by. Judy (4th from the left in the picture) lives in Oshawa, a 20 minute or so drive east of Scarborough, and Susan (third from the left or right) lives right downtown Toronto near Yonge and St. Claire. So she had to drive through the Toronto traffic (along 401, of course) to get there. Susan, and her husband Peter lived on the west coast, on the island and on the mainland, for about a decade back when our kids were just young, so we used to see her off and on back then but haven't seen her for quite a few years now. Judy's son Micheal looks SO much like our grandson Daniel!

After our get together, Jenny, Doreen, and I drove Marjorie back to the nursing home, and we went in to see it before Jenny drove us back to the campground. Jenny is a real trooper! What a wonderful daughter she is to Marjorie!

I just went for a short walk up to a Tim Horton's, where I am posting my blog on their WiFi. It's a lovely sunny evening, and it's warmed up to the point where it is pleasant. As I am sitting here in Tim Horton's, I'm watching the traffic flowing by on where else? The 401.
