Another Day In The Desert

We spent another day camped near Borrego Springs. We never tire of the views of the surrounding mountains. The shadows change as the sun rises in the morning, reaches noon day, and sets in the evening, as these pictures of one section of the mountains show.

We went in to town (just a 5 minute drive) mid morning. Here's the very wide Main Street, which never has much traffic at all. It is beautiful with all the palm trees and the mountain background.

Had breakfast/lunch at Los Jilbertos, a chicken burrito cut in two, which was plenty for the two of us. The picture shows the inside of the restaurant, just as Doreen has picked up our order from the Mexican lady.

We didn't escape this time however, without Doreen spending big money at Borrego Outfitters!! She did buy a really nice pair of pants though, for our cruise.

The desert floor where we are camped is very barren, just tiny pebbles of various sizes, without anything much growing except for the odd bush, and patches of thin grass here and there. Here's an example in this picture.

However, if you noticed in that last picture, there is some sort of lady bug in the center. You'd wonder what it does out here all day.

In the evening we had a campfire, and cooked a burger under the brilliant clear dark sky.
