Back To Cereal and Milk For Breakfast!

I woke up at around 5 am to the sound and feel of the engines as the boat was docking back at Long Beach, California. I was up and dressed quickly, and went up on deck to watch it ease into the dock. It was also an opportunity to get back on the internet and post my blog for the last couple of days.

Cabin occupants on our deck were called to disembark at 8:15, and it was quite an orderly exit from the ship, and through US customs and immigration. We were out to the parking lot in no time to greet Miss Travelaire who was waiting patiently for us to return. She was in great shape except for one unfortunate item. Her refrigerator had quit at some point, and everything had thawed out. It was no big deal though, as we didn't have that much to spoil other than some milk and ice cream.

From the Carnival website, I had estimated that our parking would cost us about $150 (for an oversized vehicle). But when we exited the parking lot, the printing on the ticket we received when we had entered was a little difficult to read. The parking lot attendent looked it over, and finally said " Were you on the cruise? Ok, you're free to go," and away we went without having to pay one cent! We were on our way by about 9:45, and traveling through the Los Angeles freeways, always a fun trip. But Miss Travelaire and the GPS lady did a fabulous job, and got us out and over the mountains and on our way up Interstate 5 in no time.

Interstate 5 in southern California is about as bad as could be. You'd think the highways maintenance people around here could come up to BC and see how to make smooth roads! Miss Travelaire's bones ached by the end of the day. And Miss Doreen's head ached too, of course.

We were in contact with Eric and Sarah and family during this time. They got going from Anaheim a little later than us, and had a bit of a problem with a flat tire on their RV, so they got in a little later than us. Sarah had kindly booked a spot for us at a KOA campground near Los Banos (N37 03 16.2, W121 00 26.0), about a 4 1/2 our drive north, and with stopping here and there, and a little grocery shopping, we pulled in at around 5 pm.

I was too lazy to take any pictures today! So that's it for tonight.
