Before we even started out this morning there were hot air balloons to take pictures of at our campground.
Then as we traveled up through Sedona and Route 89A into Flagstaff there was all sorts of scenery. But the sun was always on the wrong side, and they have absolutely no turnoffs to get off the road to take a picture. Then of course the traffic is terrible through here with everyone wanting to get nowhere fast on the curvy hilly roads. This picture is about the best I could do to show what we experienced this morning.
We stopped at one lookout where there were native people selling theire wares. Here are some beautiful pots they make. But wow! The prices were something else!
If you look closely you can see the windy hairpin turns in the road we had just navigated.
North of Flagstaff, we went through a stretch of an hour or hour and a half of flat grassy land that was about as exciting as traveling through Saskatchewan, except the grass was somewhat sparcer. Then we got into more interesting country further north towards Utah, where there were more iron rich hills.
Finally, we reached the Glen Canyon Dam at the border with Utah: quite impressive.
This is the bridge we just crossed next to the dam.
We are camped tonight at a somewhat expensive but nice campground (N36 59 51.6, W111 29 56.0) just up the lake from the dam.
