We were actually camped in Arizona last night. The boundary with Utah runs through the Campground/Marina complex, but we were below the line. This morning we motored up through southern Utah to Bryce Canyon National Park, which was about a 2 1/2 hour drive. The scenery along the way was mostly bright red hills like those in this picture.
Along the way, in a town called Kanab, we came across a car wash. Miss Travelaire has been embarrassed continually on this trip because all the other motorhomes in RV parks are shinny clean, but Miss Travelaire is still wearing all the mud and dirt from the rainy weather in the northwest. So to please her we stopped and I gave her a bath. She feels much better now.
Bryce Canyon Park is at high elevation; we're camped at about 8000 feet, and parts of the park are over 9000 feet. So there is scattered snow on the ground pretty much everywhere. This is why we have never come to southern Utah before. All the parks here are very beautiful and interesting, but because of the high elevation it's usually too cold and snowy at the times that we travel. This year there has been a nice sunny spell, so we are taking advantage of the good weather. I'm not sure why Miss Travelaire looks like she's limping in this picture!

The scenery here is quite breathtaking.
Of course you pay the price for visiting a spot like this. Our campsite is surrounded by snowdrifts!
