We were both very tired yesterday after battling with the wind. So we went to bed very early, and as a result, we both woke up very early. There were two other RVs with us in the Walmart parking lot, and one of them pulled out at around 5:30am. We followed at 5:50. It rained lighly all night and continued into this morning and on and off until early afternoon. We headed north on a rather secondary highway 139, which wound its way up and around and over hills coming out of Susanville until it finally straighten up somewhat, and headed across the border into Oregon. At Klamoth Falls, we picked up a more main route, 97 and headed north to Bend which is about midway up through the state. There we camped at Tumalo State Park (N44 07 39.6, W121 19 49.2) after a fairly long day of driving. Oregon State Parks are always nice, and Doreen soon used their shower facilities and commented that it was one of the best!
I went for a walk along the Deshutes River that skirts the park. All over California, including our travels today, we came across lakes that were almost empty. But now that we are in Oregon there seems to be no shortage of water. The river was full to the brim! (The rock face on the opposite river bank was interesting too.)
In fact, it seems to have engulfed this picnic table!
And I encountered these two love birds across the river.
