The other day, as we were traveling along through the desert, we passed by a whole huge field of solar panels. And interspersed with the panels were three towers with large curved mirrors reflecting sunlight down onto the solar panels. Doreen took this photo through the side window of the motorhome as we traveled along. Notice the rays of light reflected off the mirrors down onto the large field of panels.
All the Sierra Club people convinced us yesterday that we should go up to Death Valley, because the wild flowers are the best right this week that they have been for 10 years. We had been intending to continue on down I-15 to US395 and then north on 395. But this morning, we took the Sierra Club's advice, and back tracked about 24 miles to Baker, and headed north on 127 which goes up the east side of Death Valley National Park. It was only an hour's drive to Shoshone, where there was a RV park that I had picked out, and where we could rest for the rest of the day. But we arrived at about 11am, and the office was closed until 1pm, so we decided to drive the short distance over to Pahrump, which is across the border into Nevada, and we are now settled into the Lakeside RV Resort (N36 07 57.1, W115 57 39.4). Here Doreen is sitting feeding peanuts to some ducks at our campsite. We are really out in the boondocks around this part of the country, so finding a church to go to today was pretty much a hopeless case.
Fortunately we only had three ducks visit us asking for peanuts this afternoon. When we went for a walk later on, we realized that we could have been overwhelmed if these three ducks had told their friends!
This RV Resort is built around an artificial lake, which is really quite pretty. The altitude here is about 2700 feet though, so it is a little cooler than the comfortable temperatures of the last few nights. There has also been some weather come through today which has lowered the temperature. Being in Nevada, the resort here also has a casino, of course. In fact, as far as we could see, Pahrump's only industry seems to be casinos.
I don't know what the cell coverage will be like in Death Valley, so whether I will get a blog posted there is debatable.

Beautiful country Wish we were there with you... Enjoy
