Off to Ajo

 I forgot to relay the shower situation at Organ Pipe National Monument.  There are just three showers for the whole park.  Thus, it’s fair to say not too many people there use the showers.  We happen to be right near one of these showers.  Now, the showers are solar heated, so it would seem the best time to take a shower would be mid-day and later.  So I mosied on over at about 11:30am and tried it out.  The water wasn’t ice cold, but I wouldn’t say it was warm (there was a sign saying to be careful because the water can get scalding hot!). But I managed to do ok.  Then at around 1:30 in the afternoon, Doreen went for her shower.  Now when Doreen comes back from a shower, she is either really happy or ripping mad.  Today it was the latter; she never did get to have her shower, it was the worst shower ever!  The nozzle sprayed water all over the room, and it never got warm!

The photo yesterday of Harley and me in front of an Organ Pipe cactus wasn’t great because the particular cactus looked a little past its prime.  There was a much better example just one RV site over from us, but there was a van parked right behind it.  The van left this morning, so we took another photo of a much better example.

We left at about 10:30 (9:30 pacific time) thinking we would stop at a rest stop just up the road and watch the Lighthouse church service.  But there was no cell service!  So we continued up to the town of Ajo, a half hour or so further up the road.  So here we are parked in the town square where we brought in the Lighthouse morning worship service on YouTube.

It’s a very pretty town center, this being the Catholic church across from the park.

And Harley thought it was great:  a real grass toilet, not this gravel desert stuff!  Harley also had fun chasing his tennis ball across the grass.

After the service, we headed over to a local RV park (N32 22 30.4, W112 52 26.0) and got a site for the night.  Not the greatest, but Doreen just had a shower and was pleased. 😀

There are some big rigs here.  This one looks like it carries that dune buggy in the back (Eric 😀).  The picnic table in the photo sort of speaks for the ambiance of the park.

It has some pretty nice sunsets though!
