No AT&T Cell Coverage Tonight

We got up early this morning because we wanted to try to get to Arches National Park early enough to maybe get a camping spot.  It's likely it will be full because it's the weekend.  We were on to Interstate 15 right after leaving the RV resort, and heading south towards Salt Lake City.

The traffic into and through Salt Lake City was fairly heavy considering it was a Saturday, but it was flowing along much faster than I would have liked.  They were doing some construction and the lanes were messed up and curved in places, including lane markers that you could barely see.  The speed limit was reduced from 80 to 70 mph (that's about 110 km/h), but for the condition of the road it should have been 50!  Miss Travelaire huffed and puffed and tried to keep up without stumbling.  For some reason the traffic going north was bumper to bumper, just crawling along.

We had about an hour of Interstate road before leaving on to US 6 going directly southwest towards our destination.  It is a two lane road, but with lots of extra passing lanes.  The scenery is definitely looking like the Southwest, mostly flat desert with mountains off in the distance on all side.  But it wasn't long on US 6 before it began to get hilly, with all sorts of colour.

We managed to pull in to Arches National Park and soon found out that the campground was likely full.  Not only that, but unknown to us, this was a long weekend, so it probably won't clear out tomorrow either.  The campground is 20 miles or so into the park, so we didn't bother driving in.  We did go in to the visitor center shown here, however, and they pointed us to all sorts of camping near the park.

So here we are, camped not far away, just a little ways up a road along side a river flowing through a scenic canyon, with high jagged hills on all sides.

We soon found out we had little cell coverage around here, which became no cell coverage as the evening progressed.  So the blog has to wait until tomorrow.  It was nice and warm to sit out as long as the sun was up, but then it started to skim down the side of a slanting hill, so we ended up with half a sun for about an hour before it set completely.
