No cell coverage again tonight! There are two campgrounds where we are, and I found out later we picked the one without cell coverage. The other one was higher up. There was slight cell coverage, and I think I managed to post a version without pictures before the cell coverage vanished completely.
The scenery today was nothing like the last few days, so our pictures are rather limited! We travelled for an hour or so on nice two lane roads with almost no traffic first thing in the morning until we reached Interstate 15, and we continued south in the direction of Las Vegas. It's amazing that all the interstates we have travelled on this time 90, 84, 82, 70, and now 15, have been very smooth, and not too jammed up with traffic. More often than not in the past the right lane of the interstates have been really rough from all the truck traffic. I don't know whether we just happened to pick good ones this time or if the maintenance has improved the last while.

We exited Utah finally, after Doreen asking for the umtenth time are we still in Utah? And we passed through Arizona in about 20 or 30 minutes, and into Nevada. Well, it was just the upper left hand corner of Arizona! But still, in that little stretch of road in Arizona the scenery changed from farm land to rugged mountain terrain, and back to flat desert.
We started out from our campground this morning at about 6300 feet elevation, climbed to almost 8000 feet, and then slowly made our way gradually down to 1200 feet this afternoon. Of course this makes all the difference in the world to the climate, and Doreen spied all these palm trees for the first time and took a picture out the front windshield.
We went off Interstate 15 shortly after crossing into Nevada and made our way over to Lake Mead to Echo Bay Campsite which is in the Lake Mead Recreation Area, a federal government park where Doreen can use her senior pass which she has been using for all the National Parks the last few days, giving us half price for campground fees. It was not quite what I had expected. The campground was nowhere near the shoreline of Lake Mead, and it was a little shabby but not too bad.
The picnic tables were not shabby at all! Never seen such nice solid tables that were in every campsite. And they even had curved tops and benches!
The temperature when we arrived mid to late afternoon was about 70 F, and it was really pleasant to sit out well after sunset around a campfire.
