You Know You're Pretty Far East When..........

........You cross the Mississippi!
It seems like we've been in Arkansas forever.  We traveled just to the eastern part of the state today, not a long drive, and camped at Crowley's Ridge State Park (N36 02 29.9, W90 39 54.1).  It was an uneventful day, but a nice day with all the autumn leaves.  The colours are not brilliant, more pastel colours, because the trees are mostly all Oak trees around here.

30 Oct, Sunday
     We got up early this morning in order to get to church.  I was amazed that Doreen got up at 7am - almost a record for her!  Then we traveled through three states to get to church!  After leaving Arkansas we traveled all the way across Missouri in less than an hour (and didn't break the speed limit!) and into Tennessee.  Here's the evidence: the bridge across the Mississippi:

Albeit the part of Missouri we went through was just a little blip at the bottom.  We were going to go to this church:

But figured this was more Trevor's style - so we went to this one instead:

This was a PCA church, which was huge - probably would seat 600 people.  But the number of people there would have fit quite comfortably in the "Cowboy Church!"  Apparently at some point a rich person donated a million dollars, so they built this huge church, and then later a lot of the congregation left.  It was a pretty good service though.

We drove on after the service just a short distance to a National Park called Land between the Lakes (N36 29 19.4 W88 02 21.5).  It is a really beautiful park - all Oak trees, with the leaves about half fallen to the ground.  It is huge, with near 400 campsites, and we went for a long walk all around the park after we got settled.
