Oklahoma = Bumpy Roads

We continued east across Oklahoma over the worst roads you can imagine as far as roughness is concerned.  It must be the easiest place in the world to build roads, because it is flat, but the roads have a crack about every 10 or 15 feet, with an associated bump.  Even relatively new roads seem to be bumpy.  Also, across the western part of the state, there were grasshoppers.  Lots of grasshoppers.  Here is the result of that:  the motorhome is badly in need of a wash job.

The other thing about our trip across Oklahoma was the wind.  Of course a weather front came through the night before, and the wind just whistled straight across the road all day, just about putting the poor motorhome in the ditch.

We camped for the night in Keystone State Park (N36 08 29.4, W96 16 26.6)  We arrived fairly early in the afternoon, so we had a leisurely time around a campfire.

27 October, Thursday

There was a bit of rain overnight, and it was cloudy all day, but the roads were dry by the time we got going.  This is the first non-sunny day so far.  We ended up at Prairie Creek Campsite, which is run by the Army Corp of Engineers.  It is one of eleven campgrounds around this lake, which is a lake formed by a big electric generating dam.  We really like these Corp of Engineers recreation areas - they are really well run.  This one was quite large and pretty with the autumn leaves.
