Just Traveling North

Not much of interest today. We just headed out at about 9:30 AM, and Miss Travelaire just chugged along Interstate 5 northward, guided by our faithful GPS lady. The one event of the trip was Doreen deciding she wanted to stop at Dairy Queen along the way. I think she overheard me talking to Eric & Sarah (she was supposed to be sleeping, but was listening in!) on Facetime last night. Sarah had gone out to Dairy Queen, and I was saying bad things about that. Anyway, I had a Buster Bar, which was delicious!

After 5 hours of real traveling time, plus our few stops along the way, we landed at Champoeg State Park (N45 15 04.6, W122 52 34.2), just south of Portland, Oregon. We found about the last space in the main campgound loop before people had to start going into the second loop that they opened because of the number of campers. We happened to land beside an old beat up motorhome with a couple and three young kids plus a whole load of junk. After we'd been here awhile the guy opened up a side compartment, and began tinkering with his generator. Fortunately for us, it was a pile of just too, and he never did get it working.

We had a campfire, and piled all the rest of the wood we had on it just to get rid of it before having to cross the border.

There is a path down by the river. This is the Williamette River, and it is quite sizeable at that, probably as big as the Colorado where we camped a couple of weeks ago. They have lots more water up here in Oregon than they do down in Southern California!
